Minutes of Meeting
June 3, 2017
Golden Corral, Cross Lanes, WV
Members Present were: Ken Rubin, Larry Stonestreet, Bill Michael, John Riffe, George White, Dave Neil, Dan Blackwood, Mark Mason, Barry McCoy, Bob Wright, Richard Stephenson, Richard Reese, Jim Schuman, Earl Arentz, Larry Kopleman, William Hall.
The meeting was called to order by President, Bill Michael.
No door prize this month, as the president left it in his other vehicle (or at least that’s his story). However, he did have several nice stickers for everyone in the group.
Each member introduced themselves and their car(s), plus a few British car horror stories to share with the group.
Old business discussed:
Upcoming British V-8 Club convention: Dan Blackwood discussed the various events for the 3 day event this coming week, plus plans for our club’s participation in sponsoring the Saturday picnic at the Hawk’s Nest State Park picnic shelter. Plans are for 50+ in attendance. Volunteers from our club will meet Sat AM at the usual place on Greenbrier Street and drive to the picnic shelter as a group. Bill is to send out email this coming week with details.
Rod Run & Doo Wop: Bill Michael discussed our participation as a Trophy Sponsor for $250. This will entitle us to use the Casci parking lot on Sat & Sun. We will be able to come and go as we please during that time. A motion was made to do the sponsorship by Dave Neil, second by Mark Mason. The motion was approved.
The NAMGBR insurance for the club is now in place, which provides the club with $2 Mil of liability insurance relating to club events.
Upcoming MGC Registry convention: Richard Stephenson discussed the various activities planned and handed out registration forms for the event to be held in late September in Abington, VA. The events are open to all who wish to attend.
New business discussed:
Bill Michael reported, on behalf of the Treasurer that we have approximately $1,600 in the club account.
Kevin Roberts reported by telephone from the MossFest in Petersburg, Va. The event has grown substantially since its inception two years ago. Probably 300 to 400 cars in attendance.
Pistons & Pints will be at the Eagles Nest, in Charleston, for a Thursday evening in mid June. Thanks to Cindra Justice for setting this up.
The Concours event at the Greenbrier, originally scheduled for late September, has been moved to May of 2018.
East Bank Reunion: Our club will once again work the registration and bar for the reunion in September, as a fund raiser for our club. Volunteers are needed to work the event.
Mark Mason and two others participated in a flash cruise to Huntington May 28th. Lunch was at Jewell City Seafood. As a reminder a flash cruise can be called anytime, at a moments notice, by anyone.
Graffiti in the Park car show is Sunday, June 4 at Ritter Park in Huntington. Several of our members are planning to attend.
There is a cruise-in at HIMG in east Huntington tonight.
The Schenley Park (Pittsburgh) vintage car events are coming in July; several of our members are planning to attend.
The Mid-Ohio events are scheduled for mid-June.
