Minutes of Meeting
September 2, 2017

Members Present were: Charles Hypes, David Neil, Mark Mason, Bill Michael, Kevin Roberts, Dan Blackwood, Nick Konovich, Ken Rubin, George White, Richard Stephenson, Larry Stonestreet, Don Gross, Mark & Mary Beth Robinson, and William Hall
The meeting was called to order by President, Bill Michael at 9:30AM.
Bill Michael opened the meeting by giving a report on the “Around the Other Mound” car show at Shawnee Park, on August 19. Our club set up a canopy (thanks to Larry Kopleman) around which were displayed 13 of our member British vehicles. Kevin Roberts presented to Bill Michael a plaque awarded to our club for the best participation. Seven of our members won awards, including the best import.
Bill led a discussion of upcoming events:
Jackson, Ohio Sunday, September 3rd Greg & Kay Ervin sponsor an annual British car show at their home. Several of our members are planning to attend.
Charleston, Monday, September 4th the “Golden Oldies” car show at the capitol parking lot.
Charleston, Oct 5,6,7 & 8 the annual Rod Run & Doo Wop car show: We are a sponsor again this year, primarily to give our members access to the CASCI parking lot, which is located at the corner of Clendenin St. & the Boulevard and is in the center of all the action. The lot will be available after 7PM Friday evening to the end of the show Sunday. We are planning to have a cookout there either Friday or Saturday PM. In order to use the lot, each member must register his car and pay the entrance fee. Kevin Roberts & Bill Michael will be working the swap meet.
Mark & Mary Beth Robinson donated two tickets and a parking pass to the Marshall / Miami, OH football game tonight. Bill conducted a drawing among those who anticipated attending the game. Dr. Don Gross won the drawing.
To celebrate Steve Ewing’s recent successful heart surgery, the club is planning a cookout to be held October 20th. Charles & Cindra Justice have arranged to have this at the law firm of Hill, Peterson, Carper, Bee & Deitzler PLLC in Charleston. The firm and the Justices have been gracious hosts on several occasions for our club.
Richard Stephenson spoke briefly about the upcoming American MGC Register Association annual meeting to be held in Abingdon, Virginia. This is the 50th anniversary of the MGC. The event is to held September 29th through October 2nd. So far, 55 are registered for the event.
Mark Mason related a writeup of our club in the MG Register magazine by the British V-8 club for our assistance in hosting a picnic at Hawk’s Nest State Park for their recent annual meeting held in Lewisburg.
As a member of NAMGR, our club voted and returned its ballot for 2 positions on the board of directors: After discussion of the candidates, Karen Timeon (of the Arizona MG club), and our member, Scott Evans were selected.
Bill Michael noted the possibility of inviting John Twist, a noted British car expert from Michigan, to do a 2 day seminar in our area next May. The cost would be $2,500. There will be more discussion in upcoming meetings.
Bill noted the upcoming East Bank reunion, to be held September 29th at the Beni Kedem Temple in Charleston. We will be tending bar and other functions as a fund raiser for our club, as we have the past several years. He invited all club members join in and participate as it is a good time and we typically raise around $500 for the club.
President Michael adjourned the meeting at 10:15AM for the after meeting kibitzing session. Due to the rain it’s all indoors this month.
