The meeting was called to order by President, Bill Michael at 9:40AM.
Bill reminded the members present that it is time to pay your 2019 dues ($25.00). Several paid at the meeting.
Each member present then introduced him/her self and gave a brief description of the British, and other, cars owned.
Bill gave a brief Treasurer’s report, stating that we have around $2,500 in the club bank account and an additional $150 from dues collected this morning.
Barry McCoy has club T-shirts available in blue and grey.
Bill then led a discussion on upcoming events:
January Pistons & Pints: will be Thursday, 6PM on January 17th at the Barnyard Barbecue in Hurricane (1101 Hospital Drive, Hurricane).
Valentine’s Day Banquet (also the February Pistons & Pints) will be (tentatively) Thursday 6PM February 14th at Angela’s on the River in St. Albans. A $200 budget was established to provide door prizes for the ladies attending: $100 basket, $50 basket, $25 basket, and $25 for remaining costs – roses, etc.
March Pistons & Pints: A day cruise to the Yacht Club, located at 3869 Cedar Lakes Drive, Ripley, WV 25271 on (tentatively) Saturday, March 16th. Perhaps visiting the distillery located next door.
Bill noted the West Virginia International Car Show will be in February this year. Larry Bailey, the show’s organizer, has informed Bill that there will be room for only 8 vintage cars this year, on the 1st floor, due to changes in the Civic Center renovations.
Bent Wheel Solutions: Bill passed around a sample of chrome powder-coating work he had done at Bent Wheel Solutions – the receptor for his engine hood latch. The shop is located at 3rd Street & Main, St. Albans, WV. Also, Charles Hypes showed an item with a silver clear coat he had done at Custom Coatings in Guyandotte.
Dan Blackwood noted that the NAMGR (North American MG Registry) meet for 2019 will be held in Traverse City, Michigan. A group from North Carolina will be passing through WV on June 20, a few days prior to the meet. This may be a good opportunity to have them join us for a Pistons & Pints get-together.
Steve Ewing noted a 40 X 60 storage garage is for sale for 35K in Malden, next to the fire department.
Bill noted that Charles Runyon, of the Roadster Factory passed away recently, and it may be appropriate for the club to send a letter of condolence, as so many of our members have been customers over the years. Apparently, his son is to continue the business. He also owned the Coventry Inn, which is closing its doors.
A source of windshields was noted: Pilkington North America, Inc., located in Urban Crest, OH plus other locations in the mid-west, has a good selection of British car windshields.
President Michael adjourned the meeting at 10:30AM for the customary after meeting kibitzing session.
Wm Hall, Secretary
