Minutes of Meeting
September 7, 2019
Golden Corral, Cross Lanes, WV
Members Present were: Kevin Roberts, Dan Blackwood, Don & Susan Jeffers, David Neil, Mark Mason, Barry McCoy, Roger McCoy, Larry Kopleman, Steve Ewing, Don Fugate, Steve Reed, Jamie Chenoweth, David Chenoweth, Jim Schuman, Jim Patrick, Bob Waldron, Richard Stephenson, Richard Reese, William Hall.
The meeting was called to order by Kevin Roberts, Vice President, at approximately 9:40AM filling in for our President, Bill Michael.
Barry McCoy presented a Wheel Knock Off tool he had crafted to Jim Patrick in honor of his birthday. Jim noted that he would mount this on the wall at his home.
Janie Chenoweth gave a treasurer’s report of approximately $2,500 in the club account and over 50 paid up members.
Recent Events:
Kevin lead a discussion of the August activities of the club:
August 3rd car show at the Mallory Airport, just outside South Charleston. Several club members drove up after the meeting. David Chenoweth has a hanger there and invited the club members to use the hanger to escape the sun.
August 20th, Pistons and Pints was held at Mountain Pie, in Spring Hill on the river. Twenty-three in attendance. Food & service was good, although only one waitress took care of the entire group.
August 10th was the Dayton British Car Show: we had winners in four categories: TR6 - Bill Michael, TR7/8 - Rick Ray, Mini - Kevin Roberts, Award of Excellence - Mark Mason.
August 25th: Flash Cruise to Fayetteville. We had 16 cars and about 30 people. The weather was perfect that day for an outing in a top-down British car.
September 1st: Cruise-in to Greg & Kay Irvin’s home in Jackson, Ohio for their annual British Car & Bike Show. We had six cars, and Charles Hypes 1957 MGA was awarded Best of Show. Thunderstorms threatened but did not disrupt the show.
Upcoming Events:
Today, September 7th, is the annual Funeral Parade in downtown Charleston, at 5PM on Capitol Street, sponsored by the Kanawha River Navy.
Saturday, September 14th: Charlie Justice is planning a cruise down Route 60 to Carter Caves, KY. Will determine if we want to do a picnic type lunch or have lunch in the Lodge facility.
Thursday, September 19th: Ken Rubin will host a “Low Country Boil” at his home. This will be the September Pistons & Pints.
Dunbar Street Fair, Friday, September 20th. The Esquires will be playing.
Friday, September 27th: We will be attending bar once again for the East Bank Reunion at the Beni Kedem Shrine in Charleston as a fund raiser for the club.
Saturday, October 5th: Myrtle Beach Britfest 2019 Car & Motorcycle Show at the Market Common (which is near the old Air Force Base). Several members are planning to make the trip.
Saturday, October 19th the WV British Car Club will sponsor a car show to be held on the Beni Kedem Shrine parking lot. Mark Mason is organizing the event and has recruited several within the club to manage details such as award categories, giveaway items, entertainment, etc. On a motion by Mark Mason, seconded by Dan Blackwood, a budget of $500 was approved.
Vice President Roberts adjourned the meeting at approximately 10:30AM to the parking lot for some tire-kicking and kibitzing.
